Website Evaluation

I selected the Scholastic Magic School Bus site based on its practicality in an elementary classroom. It has a variety of interactive activities that would further a child's basic knowledge in the realm of science. After navigating to the site, I looked for information regarding the reliability of the author. Although the individual author was not identified, the site was created by a reputable source and leader on childhood education: Scholastic Inc. While the information is reliable, the overall purpose of the site is to further Scholastic's sales of related materials. I searched for dates of publication and last revisions, yet I could not find any. After browsing the site, I determined the site was not easily accessible to young children. It requires the ability to read and features distracting elements. For adults, however, the site is easier to navigate, but the font is difficult to read. The site is free to access, aside from the advertisments for Scholastic materials. The graphics on the site required a lot of bandwidth and loading time. Overall, I would use this site in my future classroom.
